The VITAMINSEAstore Atelier is a business focused on sustainability and ethical responsibility to the planet. At its heart it has the natural world and our impact on it, and it hopes to speak to the individual who is bold enough to take a stance about living responsibly. Someone who follows a yearning to choose something because it speaks to their soul and makes them feel joy or shows their commitment and passion for embracing their own style, rather than blindly following a trend.
The Founder
The founder, Ingrid Sternberg, an avid outdoor adventurer and nature lover, revives previously loved sails of all kinds to create unique, handmade products that are colourful, durable, multi-functional, and suitable for all ages and all people around the globe. VITAMINSEAstore aims to fill the gap in the market choosing durability over fast-fashion, and individuality over mass production.
Our Atelier
“Our small Atelier in the heart of St Francis Bay village, a haven for watersport lovers, is head quarters to our “creation station” which aims to save as many sails as possible from going to landfills, and out of these we want to create bold and happy, functional products that people will cherish and enjoy for many years. We do not throw anything away. We treasure even our smallest scraps by patchworking them together to create something new and wonderful. We wish to contribute to making our planet a better place through conscious choices which are better for the environment and inevitably for us. We aspire to attract people to our products who share our pledge to the planet, our love of nature, and the joy that these unique products bring. We also feel that it’s not just a hand-crafted bag, but a part in a bigger, special story; it’s an experience.”
The Team
If the team at VITAMINSEAstore could have favourite tagline’s, they would be, “be the ‘i’ in ‘kind’”, and “tribe over trend”, and “it’s not just a backpack; it’s a whole new experience”.
Ingrid says that her dream is for VITAMINSEA followers to feel the positivity, great energy and love that goes into each of their products crafted by her incredible team, and to feel motivated by the bright and happy colours, as well as all the many functional surprises built into each bag.
Our Products
VITAMINSEAstore prices its products based on the high quality of the handcrafted work(wo)manship, durable raw materials, uniqueness, meticulous sourcing of anything on their products which hasn’t come from the upcycling process, and on a 2 year repair promise to back it all up.

“We are super excited about our future VITAMINSEA lovers finding us through word of mouth and in the spirit of seeking adventure, as well as through visual online platforms such as Instagram. We cannot wait to see pictures of people adventuring all over the world with their much loved sail-bags as adventuring companions. So far we have seen our bags at the top of Morro do Moco, the highest mountain in Angola; Piz Nair at 3057m above sea level skiing in St Moritz; hiking along the wild coast of the Eastern Cape along Bishops Cove; a 6pack has been seen travelling around Lisbon and on to Cape Verde; and one has been spotted with wild bees in Cape Point Nature Reserve. As far as we know, it’s also been seen on one of the yachts participating in the Golden Globe ocean race. These stories warm our hearts and makes our project seem so worthwhile.”
