We LOVE nature, we LOVE the ocean….and this is why we do what we do and LOVE what we do.

When it came to how we approached and structured our business we decided to put sustainability first. With nature as our inspiration, we decided to go for a circular model rather than a business model. We wanted to do things properly, do things better from the start rather than basing it on a strategy, forecasts, market analysis, or ROI’s.

We used the example of the nature and its food chain / pyramid of life and adopted a revisionist thinking ethic inspired by something we heard William McDonough speaking about his sustainability company “Cradle to Cradle”. He said:
[/vc_column_text][vc_column_text]
“It’s a kind of treaty of between sustainability & design if you like – where the concept of waste is completely reconsidered.”

It’s a concept scientifically straightforward yet behaviorally complex, but the whole reason we started this business in the first place was to eliminate waste – so this just helped us cement our belief that a circular system was possible.
[/vc_column_text][vc_column_text]
You see circularity is the fundamental operating system of life on earth and nature is the perfect example, because in nature there is no waste, there are no scraps left over and there’s no pollution. One creature or enzymes waste, scraps, “pollution”, is another creature or enzymes food.
[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row equal_height=”yes” content_placement=”middle”][vc_column width=”1/3″][vc_column_text]
In our business we try and use the same approach wherever we possibly can. Our products start with waste, and nothing goes to waste. Nothing gets thrown away and every little scrap gets re used, or re modelled into one of our smaller products, patchworked together into something else – and whatever we haven’t found a use for yet, we are still researching and creating – and we’ll find one.
[/vc_column_text][vc_column_text]
Our process of harvesting all the kites, sails, parachutes, tents, that come to us is also very thorough in ensuring we use everything. We look at every little piece as “our food”. Every inch of textile, zippers, straps, webbing, hooks, rings, cool stitching, and every little fitting is “our food”.
[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][vc_column width=”2/3″][vc_single_image image=”55176″ img_size=”full”][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row equal_height=”yes” content_placement=”middle”][vc_column width=”2/3″][vc_single_image image=”55172″ img_size=”full”][/vc_column][vc_column width=”1/3″][vc_column_text]
When it comes to fittings and fixtures that we have run out of from the harvesting process, we need to add new ones. We take the utmost of care to ensure the best technical nutrients (in other words things not designed to return to the biosphere) we can find for this process. We search to source the highest quality and strength possible – so that they will invariably outlast one, two, three, products lifetimes, thereby allowing them to be returned to the Technosphere over and over again and recycled across generations.
[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row equal_height=”yes” content_placement=”middle”][vc_column width=”1/3″][vc_column_text]
All these practices in turn serve us well as it helps preserve the integrity and strength of our products so that they will hopefully have a long, happy, and cherished life with you.
[/vc_column_text][vc_column_text]
We complete our circular model by offering repairs over our products lifetime, and by taking our products back at the end of their life span. Once our products have been thoroughly worn and are beyond repair, we encourage our customers to return them to us. We assess the item and suggest something new we could make out of it or recycle all the parts that can be saved back into our system to be revived again and in return they are given a trade-in value for a new product.
